Dear friends,
Climate damages of Bitcoin (BTC) averaged 35% of its market value (2016–2021), and 58% (2020–2021). This places BTC in the category of other energy intensive or heavily-polluting commodities such as beef production, natural gas electricity generation, or gasoline from crude oil, and substantially more damaging than what we might consider to be more sustainable commodities like chicken and pork production and renewable electricity sources like solar and wind.
Unsurprisingly, I’m back on my horse, so to speak. We have simply got to get the cryptomining moratorium signed.
Send this updated message to Governor Hochul to urge her to sign the cryptomining moratorium. This action takes 30 seconds!
I was out this morning with activists for Fair Pay for Home Care, demanding that the Governor ensure that insurance companies pass state money along to home care workers instead of pocketing it themselves.
Care work makes all other work possible and immigrants do a disproportionate amount of the nation’s care work. Understaffing is chronic problem for both child care and elder care, which is the macroeconomic argument for creating legal protections for immigrants; we need immigrant care workers to relieve the labor shortages that are driving inflation.
This week Democrats introduced a bill in the Senate to provide a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. The bill is two pages long and updates an outdated law without creating new programs.
Eight million undocumented immigrants would be eligible for green cards. The bill would also help legal immigrants by clearing much of the green card backlog and protecting many documented dreamers, mostly from India.
The new Senate bill would create a rolling registry for immigrants who have been in the US for at least seven years to come forward and register for a green card.
Tell Congress to support this immigration reform. This quick action is from Moms Rising.
Have a great weekend!
with love,
L
