October 23rd
Dear friends,
I am fortunate to have a date this afternoon to go to the American Museum of Natural History with a charming 6-year-old. I hope you have a lovely plan of some kind. We have to look beyond the daily assault of bad news to better things — children, art, trees.
The last story I read before I stopped reading news yesterday was about ICE officers torturing asylum-seekers to force them to sign their own deportation orders. The affronts to justice are too numerous and awful. I skipped the debate, having learned my lesson in September.
Yesterday, I encouraged you to sign up here for the phone-banking training with Mare and the improv comics from the Magnet Theater and come phone-bank on Sunday, but I got the time wrong. It’s Sunday at 5 PM (the hosts are on the West Coast); I am time-zone challenged. I’ll be there at 5, though, and you should come too.
You have a little extension on the BIG ASK. Thank you to those who have already given me addresses for folks willing to distribute our EVERY VOTE COUNTS. COUNT EVERY VOTE. bumper stickers. All I need is the name and mailing address of someone in Arizona, Iowa, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Wisconsin who will get this done. Please email me by Sunday at esalynn@gmail.com with the subject line: count every vote. We especially need folks in Iowa, Georgia, Ohio, and Texas!
Early voting starts tomorrow. Please vote on the Working Families Party line.
Have a good weekend!
with love,
L
