Dear friends,
The events of today require that I break my Tuesday rule. Generally, if it’s not good news, I don’t write about it on Tuesday. Worse rules have been broken today.
It is not yet entirely clear who is responsible for the attack.
Israeli officials deny targeting the hospital and say they believe the blast was caused by a rocket from Hamas or Islamic Jihad that fell short and struck the site.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad has also denied responsibility.
The Israeli military reportedly said an initial investigation suggested the explosion was caused by a failed Hamas rocket launch, but the scale of the blast appears to be outside the militant group’s capabilities.
The incident is already the biggest single loss of life in Gaza in the five wars between Hamas and Israel since the militants took over the strip in 2007.
Our President is en route to Israel and our national role must be to stop the bombings that are contributing to this crisis and provide humanitarian assistance.
Tell the President where you stand. I made this action and you can make it your own.
Should Republicans manage to choose a leader in the House, we need to let Congress know that the US must provide humanitarian assistance in Gaza.
Tell your Congressional delegation that the continued attacks on Gaza must stop. This quick action from the Adalah Justice Project.
with love,
L
