November 4, update
Hi again,
Things look a little better. Allow yourself some hope. Now, let’s talk about how we deal with a president who doesn’t respect the rules of the game.
Protect the Results is a national coalition, technically non-partisan. The event in front of NYPL at 5th Avenue and 42nd has not yet been activated; if you sign up here, you will get updates. It is important to sign up for specific events in order to get the details and receive updates of changes. The ability to redirect protesters is important, so overcome your reluctance to commit. Obviously, you can decide not to go at any time, and you should not do anything that feels unsafe to you.
Some folks are struggling with the Protect the Results website. Sign up here for the seniors event in the Slope. Sign up here to work from home to get people to 11/7 events in other places.
Here is a gorgeous, simple song from the Peace Poets. Learn it. There are many videos that will automatically follow it for marches. They’re recorded with harmonies, but you can grab the melody line. Also, street singing is not about perfection. Marching with simple drums or shakers is also great. You know this.
with love,
L
P.S. People are encouraged to bring US flags and make non-partisan signs: COUNT EVERY VOTE.
