Dear friends,
Well, that wasn’t too bad! It’s been a grueling season and our work is not done.
There are other pieces of exciting news. I won’t review it today because there’s work to do. Some of that work is about making sure absentee voters have the opportunity to “cure” ballots that have been rejected because of a missing signature or other defect that is easily fixed.
Sign up to contact Democratic voters who need to cure ballots in tight races here in NYS! Training is provided.
Can a run-off be avoided in Georgia? Perhaps. There is vote curing to be done.
Call voters in Georgia with Georgia Votes.
Jess Craven — Chop Wood, Carry Water — has made a big doc listing ballot curing opportunities around the country. This is all-remote and you’re just calling people who already voted and want their votes to count. This is good work.
NYS has a new Environmental Bond Act. This will enable the state to fund projects that protect water quality, mitigate climate impacts, and promote environmental justice.
Hochul led in every poll I saw, even though her lead narrowed in the run-up to the election. She has been a frustrating figure and she owes the left flank some love, in my opinion.
I’ve spilled a lot of ink — I know there’s no actual ink, but I like the image! — on the crypto mining moratorium. This bill is very important for protecting upstate communities from pollution and for realizing our climate goals.
Let’s remind Hochul why we reelected her: tell the governor to sign the crypto mining moratorium and some other important legislation.
As the news from Cop27 reminds us, climate justice will only be achievable if we work for it.
Join the launch of the Climate, Jobs, and Justice campaign at Union Square on Wednesday, November 16.
with love,
