NYC must make restitution to New Yorkers who were wrongly denied housing vouchers. A successful class action suit will reinstate vouchers for hundreds of people whom the city cut off due to errors.
A new agreement between the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and the Building and Construction Trades Council will open more union jobs to low-income New Yorkers, including those who live in public housing or subsidized Section 8 housing. The agreement covers almost 200 construction projects amounting to $2 billion worth of repairs, alterations, and renovations.
Earlier this month, the 400th Starbucks store voted to unionize, a little less than two-and-a-half years after the first Starbucks unionized. The company has now finally agreed to negotiate with Starbucks Workers United—the Service Employees International Union affiliate that has been building worker power, shop by shop.
