Dear friends,
Delicate flower that I am, the clock change has wreaked havoc with my sleep. I hope you are having a better morning.
If you or the people in your midst are irritable and tired, please do more than complain. I made this easy action.
Tell your Congressional delegation why we should stop changing the clocks and remain on standard time.
There are plenty of reasons to be irritable and flat-out angry, and so we’re going to channel some of that energy into action. My plan is to feel better by the time I sign this post.
Walgreens stock prices dropped 1.77% last week after California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the state would review its relationship with the company.
Read some great reporting on Walgreens and its policy:
Let the folks at Walgreens know that you won’t shop there if they deny abortion medication to people with prescriptions. I made it easy!
Senate Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie are meeting to finalize their proposals for the state budget. It is very important that they include Fair Pay for Home Care in their budget proposals.
The budget will end up being negotiated with the governor, who has actually proposed to roll back home care wages to the minimum wage. We can’t let that happen.
Contact legislative leaders to urge them to include raises for home care workers in their budgets. There’s a call script from NY Caring Majority and options for social media users.
According to my friend Sophie, at JFREJ, Mayor Adams has cut the budget for NYC public schools by $469 million since June 2022. He is about to make
further cuts to care-based agencies and workforces, including CUNY, 3-K and early education programs, and our public libraries. These cruel and backwards cuts most impact low-income New Yorkers of color who rely on the City’s public social safety net, schools, and institutions. The Mayor’s budget cuts are especially unacceptable for a city that is home to the most billionaires in the world — a group whose wealth has grown astronomically during the pandemic.
Contact Mayor Adams, Speaker Adams, and your council representative to demand #CareNotCuts. This quick action is from JFREJ!
Sign on to a quick action to defend the Brooklyn Public Library’s budget.
If you’re one of those people who feels just fine today, please take a few minutes to defend human rights. This action needs more action:
Make a public comment to let the Biden Administration know that asylum is a human right and that you oppose a ban on asylum-seekers. Your comment must include original language, so this is not a quick action.
I intended a longer post, but I am going to rest. I do feel better knowing that you’re going to take action.
with love,
L
