Dear ones,
Today is the day to review and refresh our efforts. This morning at my meditation group, I was introduced the concept of the singularity. I understand this the way I understand any physics concept — very generally. (I know, I’m late. There’s a lot to know. And did you know that a physicist came up with the idea of the attention economy? ) But the big idea of the singularity is that once, there was only one thing and it was everything. This comports nicely with my understanding of justice.
If Andrew Cuomo ever runs for national office, I will be the first to remind the public that he pocket-vetoed legislation to study and map areas that don’t have broadband. This is a failure of understanding. There is only one humanity and it is everyone. We’re in a pandemic and people rely on internet now more than ever (as predicted by the physicist Michael Goldhaber). Cuomo’s spokesman offered this lame excuse:
"The legislation had a $3 million fiscal cost that occurred outside of the budget, thus it wasn't acted upon. However, we agree with it in concept and will be including a proposal in the budget."
There are so many reasons to raise taxes on rich people. Do they not understand that there is one thing and it is now and it is everything and it belongs to all of us? (They do not.) Internet for everyone is a huge equity issue that cannot wait.

Use this form to write NYS elected officials. Ask them to tax the rich and use the funds to forgive unpaid rent, to protect tenants from unfair rent hikes and dangerous evictions, and to house people without homes.
The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has extended its moratoriums on foreclosure and eviction until the end of this month.
Ask President Biden to push Congress to provide debt relief and rent forgiveness. This is a ready-made action.
This week, The Frontline will be discussing the President’s Covid relief package — and the care and relief communities actually need — along with celebrating Black History Month.

NY Caring Majority — a movement of seniors, people with disabilities, family caregivers, and domestic and home care workers from all across the state — are focused on the care that people need. Their #JustPay4HomeCare campaign is a massive effort for economic justice for essential care workers. Now is the time!

Care for us, care for each other, care for our city, care for the planet. We need to stop National Grid from expanding their Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility, at our peril.
Send a letter to comment on the LNG permits; the talking points are provided and the whole process takes a few minutes. If you only have a minute, adapt mine.
The health of our democracy continues to be fragile. A critical long-term move is to get the dark money out of politics so that government can serve the people.

I’m going to spend time thinking about the singularity. Time is another concept that collapses in the singularity. Here I must quote the song Another Day on Earth, by an extraordinary young person, the artist Gabriel Coleman:
time knows something that money never learned
that nothing can be given and nothing can be earned
time knows something that money never learned
that everything is borrowed and everything returns
and i would give anything for another day on Earth
Have a good day on earth!
with love,
L
