Hi friends,
It’s Tuesday, so I bring some good news and some action:
Georgia has recertified its election results, affirming again, after a third count, that Biden won. Federal Judges in Michigan and Georgia have laughed Trump’s legal team out of their courtrooms. U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Batten in Georgia said:
“They want this court to substitute its judgment for two-and-a-half million voters who voted for Joe Biden,” calling it perhaps the most extraordinary relief ever sought in an election lawsuit. “And this I am unwilling to do.”
December 14th is around the corner and the electors will put the question of who won to rest. We continue to hope for a return of sanity.
Here in NYC, mayoral candidates are paying serious attention to public mental health concerns and the intersection of these issues with questions of housing, health care, education, and policing. This week, eight of the mayoral candidates will discuss mental health in a candidate forum moderated by Cindy Rodriguez.
Register here to attend the mental health forum on Thursday 12/10 at 7 PM.
The American Council to Advance Medicare for All has drafted a letter to our next Vice President to support the expansion of the Affordable Care Act and to amplify the call for a path to universal health care.
Please read the letter to Kamala Harris and add your name.
And finally, Chanukah begins on Thursday and I have the best gift idea ever. This is definitely not what I am known for, but I’m serious. If you’ve ever gotten a gift from a Jewish grandparent, it came with the directive to use it in good health. This is the timeliest of all wishes, of course, what with a raging pandemic. And now, the gift to go with it. It costs just a dollar to buy and retire $100 of medical debt. You can give money to RIP Medical Debt in honor or remembrance of a friend or loved one. This gift doesn’t clutter closets and leaves a sweet aftertaste. Unlike medical treatment, it doesn’t hurt a bit and is surprisingly affordable. Everyone touched by this gift will feel better immediately. This is also perfect for Christmas and December birthdays.
Lift the burden of medical debt from someone’s shoulders!
with love,
L
