Dear friends,
Look at the world around you. It may seem like an immovable, implacable place. It is not. With the slightest push – in just the right place – it can be tipped.

The heat is now on the Supreme Court to provide a definitive answer to the question of Trump’s eligibility. There is no danger that the coming year will be boring.
There are all kinds of change afoot.
Under the headline Carmaggedon, one local paper reported that a record-breaking 335 million vehicles will have entered New York City through tolled bridges and tunnels by the end of the year. And still, folks are carrying on about congestion pricing.
they're just public venting sessions for a few car drivers to claim they "need" their subsidized drive into the city (and, by extension, need to slow down all the other drivers on the road, need to add pollution to our air, need to cause crashes and fatalities, etc. etc. etc.).
It’s important to let the MTA know that real people need relief from the unrelenting traffic that makes crossing the street, cycling, and even getting off the bus so impossible in Manhattan.
Change is hard. Speak up in favor of change. My recommendation is that the MTA should make the subways free for the first year of congestion pricing. It will bring back ridership and show good faith to people who need a nudge to get back on the subways. And instead of rerouting car traffic, it might actually get folks out of their cars.
Make a public comment on congestion pricing!
I hope the new year brings positive changes our way. We will do more than hope, of course. We will drive change (in a car-free fashion) and we will keep repairing and rebuilding and working to bring people along with us.
with love,
L
